Virgin Galactic sets late June date for first commercial SpaceShipTwo flight
WASHINGTON — Virgin Galactic announced June 15 that it plans to conduct the first commercial flight of its SpaceShipTwo suborbital vehicle in late June on a mission for the Italian Air Force.
Virgin said its “Galactic 01” mission will take place between June 27 and June 30 from Spaceport America in New Mexico. That will carry three people from the Italian Air Force and the National Research Council of Italy under a contract Virgin Galactic signed with the Italian Air Force in 2019.
Virgin Orbit lays off most employees
WASHINGTON — Virgin Orbit announced late March 30 it was laying off the vast majority of its employees after failing to raise additional funding, putting the launch company’s future in jeopardy.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Virgin Orbit announced it was laying off approximately 675 employees, or 85% of its workforce. The company said the layoff was necessary “to reduce expenses in light of the Company’s inability to secure meaningful funding.
West Ada giving free meals to children through the summer
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — West Ada School Nutrition Services will be giving free meals to children ages 1-18 over the summer.
The meal program begins with the Summer Feeding Kick Off Event on June 9 at Tully Park in Meridian. The community event runs from 12 to 12:45 and will feature raffles and activities. For more information, click HERE.
